Overview
SyncManager-Enterprise is an automated tool to copy items from Microsoft Exchange Public Folders to folders in a user’s mailbox. It requires no installation on the clients computer making it ideal for managing groups of users. It can be set up as a service running on a server, or on PC as a background process. One Way Synchronisation
SyncManager-Enterprise carries out a One-Way synchronisation (from Shared to Personal) folders. This means that changes made to the items in the local folder are not replicated back to the central folder. This keeps the usage simple, and protects the central folder.Centrally Managed
SyncManager-Enterprise is configured and managed centrally, which makes for easy set-up, administration and on-going management. The Configuration Manager tool enables users to be quickly set up and enabled. Configuration takes place from a central Exchange Account with administrative permissions on the Exchange Store. Individual users can be added with a couple of mouse clicks. Reports are provided for each mailbox after each synchronisation, so it is straight forward to check that everything is running smoothly. How it works
SyncManager-Enterprise runs as a service or a background process. At regular intervals (say every 3 hours) it will initiate a synchronisation run. Based on the details set up for each mailbox, it will cycle through all the folders to be synchronised for each mailbox. The user does not need to be logged on - all the work is carried out on the Exchange server itself. If there is an existing process set up to synchronise a users contacts, appointments or tasks with their PDA, Blackberry or iPhone, then the new contacts will be replicated here as well.
Synchronise a subset of the shared items based on a filter
SyncManager-Enterprise can filter items from a shared folder so that only a subset of the items are copied to the local folder. This is useful for example where there are a large number of central contacts, and the user only wants relevant contacts copied to her local folder – for example contacts with category ‘Northern Region’.What about my existing data?
SyncManager-Enterprise will not change any existing items in a personal folder. When it copies items from the public folder, it adds some extra information so that it can keep track of where the contact has come from. When it checks to see if the contacts are still up to date, and meeting the filter criteria, it will ignore any contacts that don't have the right information in its information field.Installation
SyncManager-Enterprise can be installed on any Server or PC with network access to the Exchange server (including installation on the Exchange Server). No reboot is required to install or un-install the software. A Davton product specialist will work with you to discuss and plan the installation. The software is installed as a service and requires various permissions and accounts to be created before installation. A trial installation can be carried out before any purchase.
