Davton Synchronization Solutions

Public Folders are a great place to store shared information - Company Contacts for example. But taking an up to date copy of that information with you when you leave the office can be tricky.

Davton's Synchronization products enable users to take a copy of their Public Folder data with them on their phone. They work by copying the data from the public folder to the users local mailbox - which allows the users usual synchronisation software to copy the data to the phone.

Davton have several products, each designed for different scenarios.

  • Server based tools for large numbers of users which require no installation on the user's PC.
  • Client based tools which can be installed quickly and easily on one users PC.
  • One way synchronisation tools which protect the integrity of the central store.
  • Two way synchronisation tools which allow any changes made while mobile to update the central store.

All our products can be customised if you have particular requirements which are not in the standard product.

Is Two-way synchronisation better than One-way synchronisation?

Davton offer both one way and two way synchronisation tools. There are benefits with both methods, but Davton work on the premise ' Keep it Simple'. On that basis we recommend using One-way synchronisation unless you have a specific requirement for Two-way synchronisation.

One-way synchronisation
  • There is a clear 'Master' folder where information is stored and managed.
  • Only users with access to the master folder can change information.
  • Simple to set up and understand
  • Easier to manage
  • Ideal for large implementations where many users require a copy of central information
Two-way synchronisation
  • Any user can update and change information
  • Information can be kept up to date by users
  • There is no 'Master' folder - all folders (and users) are equal.
  • There is a greater possibility that information may get changed or overwritten by mistake.
  • Set up needs to be carefully planned
